Xiaomi Mi Band 6: a GPS and some interesting functions in perspective

Information about the Xiaomi Mi Band 6 connected bracelet is already emerging. It is thus a question of an integrated GPS, a measurement of the SpO2 or a compatibility with Amazon Alexa.

Xiaomi’s next smart bracelet promises to be quite interesting with a bunch of new features. Indeed, information concerning the Mi Band 6 is already circulating on the web. These were spotted by the Internet user Magical Unicorn , a leaker fairly well known in the connected objects sector of the Chinese firm.

While digging through the code of the companion application for Zepp products – a range of the Huami brand affiliated with Xiaomi – he discovered some clues on two devices believed to be the future Mi Band 6. Mention is made of ‘a model number XMSH16HM which should be the Chinese version and an XMSH15HM which would be declined for the international.

GPS, SpO2 and Alexa

The elements brought to light allow us to discover that the Xiaomi Mi Band 6 – or perhaps it will be called Mi Smart Band 6 in France – could carry a GPS.

The inspected code does indeed contain some lines that should be visible to users. For example:

  • GPS is available
  • GPS signal is weak
  • GPS is automatically deactivated after 30 minutes of inactivity
  • The app must be open for GPS permissions to be granted in order to perform this training

To this would be added the possibility of measuring blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and compatibility with Amazon Alexa .

New for the interface

Also be prepared for some revised animations for proper task performance, updates, and heart rate. Other evidence points to the arrival of new watch faces and the display of emojis on notifications – this was not a native feature until now.

Finally, the code scanned with a fine comb by Magical Unicorn lists 19 exercises on which the monitoring of the user’s physical activity will be possible:

It is not known at all when this product will be officially announced. Xiaomi is used to increasing the number of releases of all kinds, it’s a safe bet that we won’t have to wait very long to learn more about this Mi Band 6.
