PS5: the most anticipated games of 2021 and beyond by the developers

Several big names in the video game industry are talking about the first-party or temporary exclusives of the PS5.

On the occasion of a sort of virtual round table, Sony gave the floor to some developers from PlayStation Studios, Ubisoft, Sega, Sumo Digital or Capcom in order to find out more about the upcoming games they are waiting for the most on the new console from the Japanese manufacturer: “ We have barely reached the middle of the second month of 2021 and although we continue to do side quests, From collecting collectibles, diving into multiplayer matches, or completing our most recent games, we already have an eye on the horizon and games planned for PS5 for the months and years to come. What if we ask the creative minds behind the games we’ve enjoyed so much this year to tell us what they expect?

The most anticipated titles from developers on PS5

Deathloop – Arkane Studios Lyon

  • Cyrille Imbert, Executive Producer at Dotemu: “ Deathloop feels like a game with original concept and gameplay, strong art direction and frantic action. In addition, it was designed by a French studio!
  • Ned Waterhouse, Designer at Sumo Digital: “ It exudes a great sense of style. I’m a huge fan of the retro 70s aesthetic. I can’t wait to see how the game mixes competitive multiplayer with a storytelling campaign
  • Anthony Pepper, Senior Designer at Mediatonic Game: “ Dishonored is one of my favorite games of the last decade. I therefore have blind faith in Arkane Studios. Everything I’ve seen of Deathloop so far has made me want to play it, from the fighting and the style, to the rhythm and the central concept of the game. I agree 100%
  • Louis Studdert, producer at Toys for Bob: “ Deathloop intrigues me enormously. I love the over-the-top action and funky ’60s /’ 70s style that comes out of the game. I’m not sure how all of this will fit together with the time loop and the two protagonists, but I want to. know more. The game looks really one of a kind. Add to this the distinctive and creative first-person action for which Arkane is famous, I can only be a fan

Elden Ring – FromSoftware

  • Ryan Payton, Director of Camouflaj: “ In my opinion, people are not grasping the full potential of FromSoftware’s next title. Since the release of their first game, Demon’s Souls, this prolific Japanese studio has continued to sharpen its craft by constantly innovating. Today, they are among the most important game developers in the world. Although we don’t have much information about Elden Ring yet, I have a feeling that FromSoftware is up to something very special, and I can’t wait to find out

God of War Ragnarök (temporary name) – Santa Monica Studio

  • Kevin Zuhn, Creative Director at Young Horses: “ I want to know what happens to Kratos and his son in the saga. It’s pretty rare that I finish a game and want more, but that’s the case with God of War 2018. There are still so many worlds to explore, so many mythological creatures to beat down. ax, so many muddy jokes to mumble! I don’t know when the game is due out, but I’m already impatient

This saga always offers breathtaking action and combat, but the emotional depth that Studio Santa Monica has infused into Kratos’ story as a father is unforgettable. I resonated with it, because my son was barely older than Atreus when I played there. When we saw and heard the incredible response to the little clip we released at the September PlayStation presentation, it was really great. Can’t wait for people to see what Santa Monica is up to

Gran Turismo 7 – Polyphony Digital

Horizon: Forbidden West – Guerrilla Games

  • Fumihiko Yasuda, producer at Team Ninja: “ After seeing the mind-blowing first trailer for Horizon Forbidden West (which featured underwater scenes, every developer’s nightmare), I Can’t wait to see how this sequel takes the series forward on PS5!
  • Jason Connell, Creative and Artistic Director at Sucker Punch: “ Horizon Zero Dawn has been a most inspiring game. Guerrilla has created a beautiful and complex new franchise. It’s extremely difficult, but they won the bet with amazing ease. I loved Aloy’s quest in Horizon Zero Dawn and now that I have my PS5 I can’t wait to return to this well-designed world

Kena: Bridge of Spirits – Ember Lab

It seems to have all the makings of an entertaining adventure game that I will be able to share with my family

Little Devil Inside – Neostream Interactive

  • Gavin Moore, Creative Director at Worldwide Studios, Sony Interactive Entertainment: “ I love the concept of a 19th century explorer hunting monsters accompanied by an old professor. The art style is great, and the worlds to explore look wonderful. I can’t wait to see what adventures this story will take us on. After so many hours and so many deaths in Demon’s Souls in 2020, I can’t wait to be in 2021 to discover beautiful worlds that won’t try to kill me

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – Insomniac Games

  • Henri Markus, Designer at Housemarque: “ The R&C games and the Jak & Daxter trilogy from PS2 were very important to me, and they still are. Insomniac is a studio that I greatly admire, and I can’t wait to see what they’ll be able to create for the next generation. The 2016 revisit of the first Ratchet & Clank is an amazing game, and I can’t wait to return to this universe
  • Angie Smets, Director of Guerilla Games: “ There are so many great games planned for 2021. The one that I really can’t wait to explore with my son is the new Ratchet & Clank. I love the beautiful and unique world they have created. We are currently playing the very last game in the series pending the release of the next one

Resident Evil Village – Consumer Games Development Division 1 (marketing deal between Capcom and Sony)

  • Derek Yu, Manager at Mossmouth: “ I can’t wait to discover Resident Evil Village! I’m in the middle of the Resident Evil phase right now. After finishing Resident Evil 3, I jumped into Resident Evil 7 to be fully prepared when Village is finally available. This is one of my favorite horror series from all media!

Horizon Forbidden West and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

  • Anthony Newman, game director at Naughty Dog: “ I hesitate between Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon Forbidden West. Horizon is my favorite game from the PS4 era thanks to its super original decor and universe, not to mention its unique and satisfying combat system. Completed all four Rachet and Clank games on PS2, so I’m a huge fan of the series, and even more since this insane gameplay demo that showed us the new portal mechanics and the game’s mind-boggling level of loyalty. I can’t wait to get back to it. The PS5 is a monster and I can’t wait to see what these franchises get out of it.
