Staying in the hospital is never fun. A fortiori when said stay must unfortunately last. However, some local initiatives try to make things more enjoyable, especially for younger people.
Going through the hospital hut is not a fantastic experience. Spending your days away from home, in a simple hospital room, is not fun. However, some people spend more time there than at home, often alone, far from home. All the more difficult for the children. But there are programs that try to brighten up their lives. This is the case in the United States of Nintendo and Starlight .
The Nintendo Switch lands in American hospitals
Having to stay in the hospital can be difficult to cope with mentally – not to mention the fact that you often come there for a physical problem too – and even more so when you know you are surrounded by sick people too . Nintendo and Starlight hope they can make stays a little more bearable by announcing the availability of their Starlight Nintendo Gaming consoles to more hospitals across the United States.
For those of you who don’t know, the Nintendo Starlight system was unveiled in 2019, when it was only available to patients at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. But today Nintendo has decided to make it available in more hospitals across the country.
in a version suitable for these environments
So this is not a new console per se. It is based on a Nintendo Switch , with a number of modifications made to make it easier to move around a hospital, from one room to another.
According to the Nintendo release: “With our new addition to Starlight Gaming, each station comes with over 25 players, from Super Mario Party to The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild. Designed specifically to meet strict hospital safety protocols, Gaming Stations can be moved anywhere in the hospital to allow children to have fun, which is especially important today as most gaming rooms are closed due to Covid-19. ”
